Meet FIG
Established in 2002, incorporated in 2005, and trademarked in 2019, FIG Services, Inc. (FIG) is a family-owned corporation that specializes in assessing medical damages, as well as educating, mentoring, and coaching in this field.
In 2008, FIG branched out and took up new roots. FIG Education, Inc. was formed as the foundation for our educational classes for certification, re-certification, and continuing education. FIG continues to plant seeds and grow with education in the specialty fields of Nurse Life Care Planning, Life Care Planning, Medical Cost Projection, and Medicare Set-Aside. FIG has also blossomed into coaching and supporting the industry through an interactive website and private community page – the FIG Treehouse. FIG Education has a garden of learning opportunities via online, virtually, and onsite. FIG Services and FIG Education are the two branches of FIG.
As FIG learns – you also learn! In an effort to achieve the FIG vision and mission, we are continuously striving to expand and enhance the FIG Education branch. At FIG, we practice what we teach. As we learn in the industry, this knowledge is brought back into the classroom. All of our instructors are practicing Life Care Planners. Also, we are excited to share new FIG educational resources in the near future – which will help you Grow YOUR Career in these specialty practices.
FIG Services provides an array of services with a focus on assessing an individual with a life-changing injury or illness and determining future medical and non-medical needs and their associated costs – with the goal of ensuring the patient/client has adequate funds to be cared for on a long-term basis. This is the specialty practice of medical damages. Our services are provided as a consultant or an expert witness with referrals from attorneys, insurance carriers, employers, healthcare providers, individuals, and families. The services provided by FIG Services include Records Review, Medical Cost Projection, Life Care Plan, Life Care Plan Review, Medicare Set-Aside, Day in the Life Video, Settlement Video, and Catastrophic Case Management. Shelene Giles, MS, BSN, BA, RN, CRC, CNLCP, LNCC, FIG LCP-C, FIG MCP-C, FIG MSA-C
Founder, President & CEO
Shelene Giles is the Founder, President, and CEO of FIG. Shelene has extensive knowledge and experience within the medical and vocational case management fields. She has been employed in these areas for over twenty years. Shelene holds college degrees in Nursing, Rehabilitation Counseling, Psychology, and Business Administration. She is a licensed Registered Nurse and her certifications include Certified Nurse Life Care Planner, Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, Legal Nurse Consultant Certified, and FIG Life Care Planning -Certified.
Emily Dillard B.S., FIG LCP-C, FIG MCP-C, and FIG MSA-C
Director of Education
Emily is the Director of Education at FIG Education, Inc. Together with Shelene, she educates and mentors life care planning students through the 120-hour Life Care Planning Certification class, with a strong emphasis on the life care plan case study and the development of a comprehensive life care plan. She also provides guidance and coaching to individuals certified in life care planning—both former FIG students and non-FIG students—on the life care planning industry, developing comprehensive life care plans, and preparing for depositions and trials as an expert witness.
Previously, from 2018 to 2022, Emily served as the Director of Marketing and Operations at FIG Education and FIG Services. In this role, she managed FIG’s life care planning education and service businesses, helped update FIG’s 120-hour Life Care Planning Certification class, and guided students through the 120-hour Life Care Planning Certification class. She also led marketing efforts for FIG’s Life Care Planning, Medical Cost Projection, and Medicare Set-Aside courses, by attending conferences and educating healthcare professionals nationwide about the life care planning industry.
Emily serves on the FIG Advisory Board and is a founding member of the American Association of Pediatric Life Care Professionals (AAPedsLCP).
Before transitioning into the life care planning field, Emily spent many years working in health policy in Washington, D.C. She worked on Capitol Hill as a healthcare policy legislative aide to a senior U.S. Senator on the Senate Finance Committee, which oversees Medicare and Medicaid policy. She collaborated with the Senator in sponsoring and successfully passing the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act and the Federal Research Public Access Act, both of which were ultimately enacted into law.
Emily is highly knowledgeable in healthcare policy, with particular expertise in Medicare and Medicaid policies, as well as the Medicare End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) program and Medicare Survey and Certification. Her experience spans a wide range of healthcare policy legislation, including the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, Medicare Physician Fee Schedule, State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), Medical Device User Fee and Modernization Act, Prescription Drug User Fee Act, and the Labor Health and Human Services Appropriations bills.
Emily also worked in the healthcare practice at Squire Patton Boggs, advising healthcare clients on legislative and regulatory matters and developing government affairs strategies that engaged both legislative and executive branches. Her clients included medical and healthcare professional associations, hospitals and health systems, skilled nursing facilities, pharmaceutical companies, universities, and dialysis providers. Additionally, Emily collaborated with the Medicare Advocacy Recovery Coalition (MARC) to educate Members of Congress and their staff on the Medicare Secondary Payer Act and advocate for related legislative initiatives.
Emily holds a Bachelor of Science in Commerce and Business Administration from the University of Alabama, with a major in Health Care Management and a minor in Political Science / International Relations.

Director of Videography & Videographer
Reese Giles is the Video Director and Videographer for FIG.
Originally from Western North Carolina and now residing in Atlanta, Reese is an essential member of the FIG team. Reese brings his skills, experience, and college education in the theatre, acting, and film industry to the FIG table. Reese has an active role in the creation, development, recording, and editing of videos under FIG Education and FIG Services. He is also involved in the creative design, marketing strategies, and business development. When not providing his talents to FIG, you’ll find Reese with a camera in his hand or recording music on his electric keyboard.
